On March 3, an event for Purim took place at the Lost Shtetl Museum, bringing together members of the community and visitors to mark one of the most joyful and colorful holidays of the Jewish year.
During the event, a lecture on the origins, religious and historical meaning, and traditions of Purim was delivered by Rasa Stakauskaitė, Chief Researcher at the Judaica Research Center of the Martynas Mažvydas National Library of Lithuania. The presentation explored the story of the Book of Esther, the symbolism of the holiday, and distinctive customs associated with Purim — from costumes and festive performances to traditional foods.
The celebration was also attended by Rabbi Yizchak Pevzner, who opened the event with an introductory address and shared insights into the spiritual significance and contemporary relevance of Purim.
The program began at 5:00 PM with the rabbi’s welcoming remarks, followed at 5:30 PM by the lecture “The Most Joyful Jewish Holiday – Purim.”
We sincerely thank everyone who attended.
