Between April 13–24, the Museum’s Head of Education, Dr. Jolanta Mickutė, and Head of Communications, Marija Dautartaitė, visited the United States for a series of museum presentations and professional meetings.
In collaboration with the Consulate General of Lithuania in New York and the Embassy of Lithuania in the United States, the team organized events introducing the museum’s mission and work to international audiences.
In New York on April 15, Dr. Jolanta Mickutė joined Prof. Saulius Sužiedėlis, Büke Kumyol of Ralph Appelbaum Associates, and Alex Weiser of the YIVO Institute for Jewish Research for a public discussion on how to preserve historical memory in contemporary society.
On April 20 in Washington, D.C., Dr. Mickutė, together with Prof. Stephen Wilson, presented the museum’s exhibition and introduced attendees to a series of documentary films created exclusively for the museum by director Roberta Grossman.
Throughout the visit, the delegation also engaged with leading cultural and remembrance institutions, including the Museum of Jewish Heritage in New York, the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum (USHMM), and the Capital Jewish Museum. They also held meetings with representatives of YIVO, the American Jewish Congress, the Claims Conference, the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), the American Jewish Committee (AJC), the USC Shoah Foundation, and other partner organizations.
