How Chaim Goldin burnt down his hotel

Somewhere around this spot once stood the hotel of the infamous Chaim Goldin. Whom the hotel served and why Chaim's business began to fall apart is a subject we really can’t discuss here – our apologies. We just don't know. We can only imagine his sense of hopelessness when, along with all the other troubles, bed bugs also took up residence at his hotel. Chaim was unable to endure the financial difficulties, became furious, and burnt down his hotel.
That's insane, right? But he soon came to his senses and began to come up with new plans to earn money and survive. It was said that this father of three (and incidentally quite handsome) Chaim Goldin jumped from a moving train to claim insurance compensation for his injuries. As far as we know, this didn't work out for him, either.
Sadly, Chaim, who clung to life right up to 1941, left behind no writings. Incredible rumors circulated in Šeduva about his dangerous adventures, written down many years later by members of the Grodnik family from Šeduva.
