A horse named Fuks listened to hymns at the synagogue

A horse named Fuks kept by the Grodnik family knew how to draw attention. For instance, he used to visit people in their homes uninvited. The family lived next to the synagogue that once stood on this square, so when Fuks wanted to, he went there as well. According to his owners, the horse used to stick his head through the window of the synagogue and crane it around shamelessly. Was he so very curious? It's hard to say. Fuks was clever, we can guess that much. After all, he was called Fuks, which sounded very similar to the Yiddish word for "fox”. It’s more highly, however, that he wanted to hear the sacred songs sung here during the holy days. Let's have a listen.
